What captivates me about my role is the continuous exposure to emerging developments. Lately, the multifaceted landscape of digitalization has become increasingly prominent in my work. Here’s a glimpse into some recent encounters:
Development Cooperation: In 2018 and 2019, I had the privilege of contributing to the anniversary events for the Strategic Partnership Digital Africa on behalf of GIZ. This initiative is dedicated to harnessing the potential of digitalization for Africa, fostering collaboration between German companies and African start-ups. One key focus is the digitalization of mobility, with a shared goal of propelling African nations into a digital mobile future.
Sustainable Mobility: The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport shares a similar ambition. In 2017, they launched a “Digital Mobility Think Tank” to explore how digitalization can enhance sustainable mobility in the region. Serving as a moderator at the verWEGEn ideas conference in 2018, organized by IFOK, I guided participants from research, business, administration, and politics in delving into the outcomes of the “digital mobility think tank.” Together, we discussed their visions and perspectives on digitally-driven sustainable mobility, featuring insights from Minister Hermann and esteemed speakers.
Industry 4.0. and SMEs: At the event “Industry 4.0. – a click into the future” organized by DIHK and the Industry 4.0. platform, my role was to moderate three panels with experts and decision-makers. The discussions centered on the current status of industrial SMEs in Germany, the support services required, evolving production business models, the role of AI, and cross-border opportunities. This event aimed to uncover where the industry stands and chart the course for the future.
What I find particularly exhilarating about digitalization is its profound impact across various societal domains, interconnecting them. To navigate this transformative landscape and pave the way for a positive digital future, it requires new configurations of players, networks, and perspectives.
